Recently, the 2026 China-U.S. Young Maker Competition concluded. Projects from the Suzhou tryout brought home an impressive haul of awards.

The China-U.S. Young Maker Competition, an annual event initiated by the Ministry of Education of China in 2014, is aimed at offering global young people a chance to showcase their ideas and inventions focusing on sustainability of human society, such as those for community development, education, environmental protection, healthcare, energy utilization and transportation. From 2017, the Suzhou tryout of the event is held in Suzhou Dushu Lake Sci-Edu Innovation District in SIP. This year’s event, themed “Co-Making the Future”, set a new record in scale.

Projects from the Suzhou tryout won multiple awards. Among them, Soochow University’s edge-end intelligent monitoring system for key components of rail vehicle transmission systems garnered the second prize in the main contest, and the university’s intelligent crab feeder and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University’s intelligent UAV manufacturing based on 3D printing technology clinched the third prize.

Additionally, other projects from around the Yangtze River Delta region won prizes in different categories.

These projects, featuring cutting-edge technologies for intelligent manufacturing, public safety, smart agriculture, energy conservation, and environmental protection, fully demonstrate young makers’ strong capabilities in interdisciplinary integration and technology application.
