The Jinji Lake area in SIP always brims with youthful energy. Lights at Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre (SZOSC) pierce the night sky, tennis courts by Yangcheng Lake are often bathed in cheers, and art exhibitions are held throughout the year.

The 2026 Suzhou Open, a WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) 125 event, is going to take place at Sungent International Tennis Center next month, when nearly 80 female professional players from around the world will compete in the singles and doubles matches.

A number of sports events, like the finals of the “2034 Cup” Primary School Students’ Football Games (U12) and Suzhou Jinji Lake Half Marathon, are held in SIP on a regular basis. SIP has enhanced efforts to boost the “ticket stub economy” by offering participants of various events discounts and other privileges in a wide range of consumption scenarios.

Concerts add to the youthful vitality of the area, too. So far this year, SZOSC has hosted 40 concerts that attracted about 700,000 spectators, of whom over 80% came from outside SIP.

Meanwhile, diverse performances including musicals, modern dramas and talk shows are staged at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre, Jinji Lake Concert Hall and other venues, while exhibitions, featuring different forms of art, are held at art museums and galleries frequently. Recently, the Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art formally opened to the public, with a fourth-month art season underway.
